Sesshin

This Queen’s Birthday Weekend, (9/10/11th June) why not give yourself the gift of silence, repose, focus and deep inquiry with Zen Roshi Susan Murphy, regular teacher for the Melbourne Zen Group, author of Upside Down Zen, and Minding the Earth, Mending the World (in press).

A three day non-residential Zen retreat in the midst of the city – a chance to examine ways to weave strong Zen practice into the flow of everyday life. Sharing breakfast, lunch and supper in silent orioki ceremony (eating as mindfulness) and a daily opportunity for dokusan (with priority for those attending full-time). Two full days (Saturday and Sunday), 6am-6pm, and one half day (Monday), 6am to midday, ending with an extended Dharma Inquiry session, and celebratory Sangha shared lunch open for all

Spring Sesshin with Subhana Barzaghi Roshi
7 Sept -14 Sept 2012, Casa Pallotti Campsite (near Millgrove, Yarra Valley)
Sesshin means ‘to touch the mind, to settle the mind, to convey the mind’.  The Melbourne Zen Group Sesshin is an opportunity to participate in a seven day silent residential retreat in the company of dedicated and supportive fellow practitioners.  The schedule includes extended periods of zazen (sitting meditation), walking meditation, interviews with the teacher, dharma talks, and mindfulness work periods. Subhana Barzaghi has been practising meditation for over 30 years and has trained with Aitken Roshi in Hawaii, John Tarrant Roshi and with Yamada Koun Roshi in Japan.  Subhana received Dharma transmission from her teachers in 1996 as a Roshi in the Diamond Sangha.  Subhana is a guiding teacher for the Sydney Zen Centre and is a psychotherapist in private practice.
